Who would succeed Lagerfeld at Chanel?

Now that’s a million-dollar-question – who would succeed Karl Lagerfeld at CHANEL? Loads of rumours had been floating but for once, Fashion Czar, Karl Lagerfeld has put all the speculations to rest.

In the November 2010 issue of Numero, Lagerfeld addresses the question himself, “I have a contract for life so it all depends on who I would like to hand it to. At the moment I’d say Haider Ackermann.” Lagerfeld invited Ackermann to the most recent Chanel show, and has been lately enamoured with his designs.

Haider Ackermann, a Colombian designer who graduated from the prestigious Antwerp Fashion Academy of Fine Arts and interned with John Galliano was flabbergasted by Karl Lagerfeld holding him in such high esteem and was quoted in Women’s Wear Daily (WWD) saying, “What can one possibly say to such a phrase?! Such a compliment! Honoured I feel, how can one not be?! In all honesty tremendously, immensely touched especially coming from Monsieur Lagerfeld.” Ackermann’s Fall 2010 Collection was superb. Have a look at these Architectural jackets and I bet you’ll fall in love with his work!
