The just-concluded Paris Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2015 kept a(breast) with the libertine spirit of Paris. Yes, French designers have been celebrating the female form in myriad forms this season — from topless runways at Jacquemus to the anatomic boob bags that fashion folks are make a grab for. Rather than send out a model with a tank top on, Simon Porte Jacquemus simply drew a crude outline of one across a model’s bare chest and in another design he strategically placed cloth cutouts of hands over tits.
Christophe Lemaire and Sarah-Linh Tran chose breast-shaped saddle bags to accompany their structural collection. Lemaire literally moulded the bosom into a sleek, across-the-shoulder messenger bag, replete with hardened nipples. Say good-bye to IT bags and hello to TIT bags! At the London Fashion Week, designer Ashish Gupta celebrated ‘Free The Nipple’movement in his street-walker inspired collection.
In fact breasts were back earlier…on the red carpet at the Golden Globe. Glancing nonchalantly down at Jennifer Lopez’s impressive cleavage at Golden Globes, actor Jeremy Renner quipped: “You’ve got the globes, too.” Renner’s comment was hardly razor sharp, but in his defense J-Lo’s ‘globes’ were hard to avoid, showcased as they were in a gold, caped Zuhair Murad gown slashed deep enough. J-Lo wasn’t the only one attracting male gaze. Kate Hudson’s chest was barely covered by shreds of white Versace. Jessica Chastain opted for another slashed Versace halter-neck in bronze, while Sienna Miller (in Miu Miu) and Rosamund Pike (in a Vera Wang dress) followed suit.
The latest edition of W Magazine has Kate Moss posing bare-chested with painted nipples. Everybody is celebrating the breast!
Is this supposed to be sexy? Its so blahhh- same feeling you get when you see women with lehengas with tiny cholis without dupattas… like they are donning incomplete outfits. I get the principal behind the libertine spirit, but just don’t see the appeal. I get the libertine spirit. Wonder how this is going to influence summer 2015 main street style.
