Legendary film-maker – Steven Spielberg is visiting India on Anil Ambani’s invitation. Ambani and Spielberg’s relationship is now a couple of years old since his company, Reliance Entertainment invested in Spielberg’s company, Dreamworks. Ambanis have been regulars at the Oscars now. They were seen with Spielberg, Daniel Day-Lewis and Sally Fields of Lincoln, which Reliance Entertainment co-produced with Dreamworks. Last night Reliance Entertainment hosted a talk show – “Steven Spielberg in conversation with Amitabh Bachchan”. Accompanying Spielberg is Dreamworks’ CEO & Co-Chairman, Stacey Snider.
Amitabh Bachchan twitted about Spielberg, “the guest in conversation .. simple, honest and with immense candor ..”. Post the conversation Big B twitted,“ …and then after its all over .. a quiet dinner amongst the four of us …”
Would love to see this conversation. Any idea when it’s going to be aired???
It seems the Desi Richies are going through a phase of outdoing each other in building expensive mansions. After Mukesh Ambani’s mind-boggling Antilla, Anil Ambani took off to building one for self and now Indian steel magnate Lakshmi Mittal is building the most expensive mansion ever erected in Scotland, next to the famed Gleneagles golf resort in Auchterarder, Perthshire.
The London-based tycoon, Europe’s richest man and the fifth richest man in the world with a fortune of $28.7 billion, is spending a record $23 million on the posh estate, including the $6 million mansion he tore down to make way for his new luxury fortress. His lavish private palace in London is reckoned to be the city’s most expensive as well. Costs on the Perthshire project soared after Mittal decided some of the finished weren’t up to standard.
At one point he demanded a $125,000 bathroom be torn out and done over. It seems Mrs. Mittal is going to use the posh mansion more than her husband. The six-bedroom main residence will have furnishings by Ralph Lauren, a state-of-the-art entertainment system, two kitchens and staff quarters among other amenities.
It so happened that Sunny Dewan of HDIL and his friend went to a tony nightclub in South Mumbai – Prive but found the VIP Table occupied by some teeny kids. The ‘Velvet Rope’ allures these nouveau riche kinds and Sunny wanted that VIP Table any which way. He walked up to the bunch of teenagers and requested if they could shift to the bar as some of his important guests are coming. The teeny crowd said a polite ‘NO’.
Sunny Dewan gulped a couple of drinks and re-approached the teeny bunch at the VIP Table and proposed that if they move from the VIP Table, he will foot not only the tab for what they had but whatever they would have that night. No sooner had Sunny Dewan completed his proposal, one teenager replied – “Why don’t you stop bothering us and I would foot your tab here not only for tonight, tomorrow, a year but as long as you live.” Sunny was stumped. The Bandra Boy – Sunny Dewan didn’t know that he was showing Moolah Power to one of the Ambani kids, Anil Ambani’s elder son Jai Anmol.
